What's wrong with Siri?

It's painfully obvious that Siri needs some sort of app or page for conversation history.

I use Siri multiple times a day to control my smart home devices and occasionally ask about the weather. But I now have Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT on my home screen.

At this point, the primary reason the "Apple Intelligence" version of Siri is so disliked by power users is simply because there is no way to reference previous conversation history.

Tacking "ChatGPT" into the product almost punishes power users.

The current implementation of Siri (ft. Apple Intelligence) discourages users from having conversations, or even asking important questions, because there's no way to access the information afterwards.

The product is basically insisting that we shouldn't ask complex technical questions or even things that require more than a sentence response.

God forbid a person accidentally taps their screen with their palm and dismisses the response. Now we're even hesitant to touch the device while using Siri.

Basically, if I'm not mentally prepared to immediately memorize what's said on the screen, it's not even worth asking the question using Siri.

Hold on- I need to quickly memorize this apple pie recipe before it disappears into the ether.

How could Apple Fix Siri?

By simply providing a home for these conversations, usage will go way up.

Naturally lead into the Siri view in each request.
The "Continue in Siri" button isn't necessary if it's the only behavior.

To be fair, there are many other serious issues with the current iteration of Siri; reliability, response rate, and intelligence also need to be addressed. And of course there's a broader conversation to be had around Apple's constraints for third party apps. Wouldn't it be great to be able to choose from a collection of competing assistants?

Apple seems content to sit this one out, which is surprising given how proudly they touted the new Apple Intelligence features. Even their own flavor of llama or an expanded partnership with OpenAI with an improved UX would make a big difference.

In other news, I recently updated this site and will be writing here more frequently. I promise less than 30% will be grumblings about UX issues.
